Specialist Conservation Grade Slates add a beautiful finish to this handsome hardwood conservatory extending a stone-built country home.
Bradstone Stone Reproduction Slates were chosen as the material for this conservatory extension. These reconstructed stone slates offer a cost-effective alternative to Traditional Stone. They are equally hard wearing, maintain the existing style and are designed for approval in Conservation Areas in accordance with historic building regulations. These were laid using a Diminishing Course technique to match traditional stone slate laying methods, creating a historic look and feel. Matching Bradstone Stone Reproduction Ridge Tiles were selected to complement the choice of roof tile. Alloy fixings were used. These traditional fixtures are non-ferrous, long lasting and reduce the risk of nail sickness, increasing the life of the roof. Hand-dressed lead abutments provide a handsome water tight join to the main house gable end. The slates were laid on a high quality breathable membrane instead of traditional felt. This tough, hard-wearing man-made material is an energy-efficient green alternative to traditional roofing felt, and reduces condensation and the amount of ventilation required in the roof space. |
